MORRIS-TURNBERRY A beef farmer, pinned by the bucket of a skid steer, is Ontarios first on-farm, farm-related fatality of 2015. Police say 41-year-old David Johnston was working underneath the bucket of a skid steer on his Jamestown Road farm at Morris-Turnberry, just west of Listowel, on Jan. 12 when the bucket suddenly moved, pinning Johnston between the bucket and the frame of the machine. Harvey Hoggart, the advisory councillor for the Huron County Beef Producers, said he first met Johnston about 10 years ago when they were both directors of the feeders finance program with the Huron-Perth Cattle Feeders Co-operative. “He was a great lad, a hard worker,” said Hoggart. “He was an excellent family man. Hes going to be really missed in the community.” Johnston is survived by his wife, Kimberly, and three kids, Myles, Lola and Kipp.
