The Aultsville government wharf back in 1947 was a favourite spot for swimmers. It was about 20 ft. deep at the end of the wharf. Aultsville, west of Cornwall with a population of about 300, became a ghost town 11 years later, when it was flooded to deepen the St. Lawrence River and make way for large cargo ships.
