Boys play shinny hockey on Hoople’s Creek, in the village of Wales, now a ghost village, as it is underwater and part of the St. Lawrence River. Wales was a tiny village between Morrisburg and Cornwall. From left are Bill Trimble, Howard Trimble, Eddie Powell (in distance) and Neil Whittaker in his Chicago Black Hawks sweater. The Black Hawks had just come off a 5th-place finish in the seven-team National Hockey League. The Boston Bruins were the reigning champions. The Toronto Maple Leafs would go on to win the Stanley Cup in 1942. (SD&G archives photo)
