OTTAWA — The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has reported this fall’s first case of avian influenza detected in Ontario.
The outbreak coincides with the fall migration of waterfowl.
The report states the location of the infection occurred at a non-poultry, non-commercial property in the region of Kawartha Lakes on October 19, 2023.
Although there have been several reported outbreaks in Alberta in October, this is Ontario’s first case since spring.
